Despite being a 1992 Olympic competitor and having a 32-4-1 pro boxing record, “The Clones Colossus” Kevin McBride was seen as nothing more than a jobber / journeyman going into this fight. His 4 defeats came by way of KO; including a 5th round TKO lost to tomato can Louis Monaco (record: 4-6-2),and a 3th round TKO lost to sub-.500 fighter Michael Murray (record: 15-16). Thus making him an excellent victim for a slugger like Mike Tyson.
At this point, Tyson didn’t want to fight anymore. He was just there to pay the bills. Following his heartless “performance”, Tyson announced his retirement and declared “I’m not going to disrespect the sport anymore by losing to this caliber of fighter”.
