How You Can Rock At 160 Pounds


Originally, I was a skinny ectomorph who dreamed about being big and strong like the pro wrestlers of the 80s, the World’s Strongest Man competitors and the UFC fighters in the 90s. The majority of my sport idols were heavyweight guys. Mike Tyson (220 lbs), Evander Holyfield (212 lbs), Manfred Hoeberl (26″ arms), Ken Patera (bouncing his huge pecs), Hulk Hogan (302 lbs), “Macho Man” Randy Savage (238 lbs), Bret “The Hitman” Hart (235 lbs), The Ultimate Warrior (275 lbs) to name a few… Every pro wrestlers in the 80s and 90s were billed at over 235 pounds.

So when I started amateur boxing, I wanted to be a heavyweight. I wanted to be a pro fighter and/or a strongman competitors. Since I was more of a loner doing his own business. I choose Strength sports over Combat sports. But despite several months of weight and cardio training I was still a small 160 to 180 pounds athletic guy!! I didn’t wanted to be fuckin’ athletic. I WANTED TO BE A GIGANTIC FREAK!!! Which I eventually became. All natural! All by myself!!


After bulking up to a HEAVY 325 pounds with muscular 33-inch thighs and a couple of years of strongman contests at regional and professional level. I decided that I had enough of overfeeding myself and feeling so heavy and bloated all the time. And the strongman sport was too much cardio strength endurance shit to my taste. So I decided to drop some weight, a lot of weight, to get leaner and better looking. I dropped to a record 193 pounds in a little bit more than a year. Thanks god I’ve got a very good skin not doing any stretch marks at all. I feeled a lot better that way without those huge cumbersome legs and being able to walk without foot orthosis. (My strongman bulk was to heavy to carry for my small bone structure. But I didn’t care at the moment! At the time, I still wanted to get bigger and bigger.) Then after almost starving myself to an usual 205 pounds. I got tired of the food restriction and choose to get back to a funnier 250 pounds. A fun weight because I can eat whatever the fuck I want without being too bulky, fat, and muscle-bound. However, by the time I write this post, I’ve lost 20 pounds, I’m about 225 pounds and still want to shred some more fat. Workout and training is a lot more fun when you have goal and objectives to achieve. Motivation is at its peak and my gym time is priceless.


To make a long story short. When I’ve realize a couple of years ago that one of my childhood hero Sylvester Stallone, a worldclass premier muscle icon, weighted a lean and mean 161 pounds at his peak!!! Can you believe it! The ultra muscular Sylvester Stallone was below 200 pounds at his very best!! He was even lighter that his billed 190 pounds in his movies!!!

So you don’t need to weight over 200 pounds to be a man, to be a Strength Fighter!!!

With that being said, I had the idea to made this post to show you that you can rule sub- 200 pounds. What a better to show you that you can be meaner by being leaner than to dress a list of legendary sub-200 pounds badasses and asskickers!?!

You won’t see any GSP and Floyd Mayweather on my list. Fuck them since they never fought at heavyweight categories. Too light my ass! Roy Jones Jr won the WBA World Boxing Association Heavyweight Championship in 2003 at 5’11”, 193 pounds, 34 years old. And with his declining speed and reflexes, Roy Jones would have been an a lot better heavyweight than light heavyweight at this stage of his career.

The King of the Undersized Badass is none other than… Victor Delamarre

Despite being a pocket-size 5’5.5″ and 154 pounds (unseen for a super strongman) Victor Delamarre was, maybe, the strongest man who ever exist. Anyway, without a shadow of a doubt, Victor Delamarre IS one of the ten strongest men to ever exist, period.

He was one of
thirteen children and built the foundation for his great strength at a
young age by farming and working as a lumberjack.

Practising sports like Boxing and Wrestling since the age of 13.
When he was 14 years old, DeLamarre studied the exploits of Louis Cyr and declared that he would one day break Cyr’s records.
Came to Montreal and joined the Police.
At the time, Montreal cops were required to be big strong individuals.
Delamarre was deemed too small but his feats of strength spoke for
himself.



Some of his feats of strength were
climbing a ladder carrying a horse in a sling, bending a quarter between
his thumb and forefinger,
etc.


Had double tendons and a four-inch thick spine, more than the double of a strongman (facts verified at the autopsy). He was said to be hard as steel.  


April 2nd 1914, when, at age 25, weighting 154 pounds, Victor DeLamarre officially bent-pressed (dévissé) 309-1/2 lbs at the Arcade theater of Montreal. 
Doing so, Delamarre shattered 4 records.
1- Defeating Louis Cyr (273 lbs bent-press)
2- Lifting a weight twice as heavy as him overhead with one-hand.
3- Doing the heaviest Bent-press (dévissé) in history.
4- Defeating all the heavyweights of the world as a middleweight.

  • February 24, 1922: officially clean-and-jerked 201.5 lbs with only one finger.



  • Around 1925, at Montreal: backlifted 65 people on a platform (7000 lbs) 


He wrestled over 1500 bouts as a professional, mainly in 1930s.

An expert on the
subject, Raymond Desbiens, is convinced that Victor Delamarre was
stronger than Louis Cyr, billed as the strongest man of all time by many
historians. Raymond Desbiens also stated that Victor Delamarre had
visibly more stamina than Louis Cyr in his performances. However, Louis
Cyr was a better showman and had the classic strongman look.

Louis Gagné, the
general director of l’Ermitage Saint-Antoine de Lac Bouchette – were the
strongman memorabilia are exposed – stated: “Victor Delamarre
defeated Louis Cyr on everything except marketing. Delamarre could have
been a lot more famous: he was offered movie roles from an american
producer. But he refused since they wanted him to change his name for
Delaware.”

Just by looking at his measurements (6.5″ wrists) you can tell that Frank Zane is a skinny ectomorph by nature.

The fitness bodybuilder at the right look a million time better than the bulky powerlifter at left. The guy at left doesn`t even look like someone who workout.
