WWF LJN 5-back figures

WWF Wrestling Superstars Toy Commercial Collection 1984 – 1992
Wrestling Superstars were the first action figures based on the wrestlers of the WWF. They were made by the toy and video game company LJN from 1984 to 1989. The figures were made of solid rubber and paint and were very accurate in appearance to their real life counterparts.

Otherwise said, My Favorite Toys Of All Time!

1984 WWF LJN  5-back figures of my childhood

My lovely mother graciously bought me the WWF LJN 5-back figures from the very first series of LJN in 1984.  Five 8″ solid rubber WWF Wrestling Superstar figures.  I could remember the smell of my prescious toys.  At the time, my mother even make me a ring with a square plank of wood with four nails and golden thread as ropes.  I’ve always played rough with my toys.  So no need to say that my five favorite toys weared out too soon.  I now regret to have used them carelessly.  These toys were so special.  Unlike those articulated generic shit that they sell today.  Each LJN figure has his own unique design.  Not just a different head on the exact same body.

My favorite one was the Big John Studd, the bigger and the most massively muscular of the bunch.  I’ve even make a white mask and cape specially for him.  I used to sit him on my bicycle handlebar while I was cycling.  I can also remember that Jimmy “Superfly” Snuka, being the leaner and smaller of the five, was the girlie one, the jobber of the group.

The WWF context by 1984 at the creation of the figures.  Hulk Hogan was the newly crownded WWF World Heavyweight Wrestling Champion defeating the hated foreigner Iron Sheik.  Andre The Giant and Big John Studd were feuding together in the Battle of the Giants.  And Jimmy “Superfly” Snuka was hugely popular but leaved the WWF the following year.

Below are the billed height, billed weight, and legit age of our five rubber “aging” wrestlers at the time of their creation.  By the way, the TV pub was sensational!

HULK HOGAN………………………………6’7″, 302 lbs, age 30 or 31
ANDRE THE GIANT………………………7’4″, 477 lbs, age 38
JIMMY “SUPERFLY” SNUKA……………6′, 250 lbs, age 41
IRON SHEIK…………………………………….6′, 258 lbs, age 41
BIG JOHN STUDD……………………….6’10”, 385 lbs, age 36

AVG STATS of our 5 rubber heroes: a foreigner, 6’6.5″, 334 lbs, age 37
